These are basically programs that allow websites providing some sort of link to your site to receive the payment or some kind of advertisement in exchange of promotion of your site. The first and foremost thing is to sign up an affiliate. Then the job of the affiliate is to promote your product through advertisement and then lastly you pay them commission from your sales. You can start your affiliate programs by three ways: Affiliate Networks The very simple thing is to sign up with an affiliate merchant. The very advantage of this is that these affiliate networks are already composed of thousands of affiliates and hence you can easily expand your business. But this can also backfire on you as the members in affiliate network are always looking for new merchant offers and therefore it may hamper the promotion of your product. Another disadvantage of these networks is regarding the cost factor. They generally charge you very much when you sign up and moreover you also have to pay monthly rent. Affiliate Application server provider (ASP) They are similar to affiliate network in the sense that they also use their own server for hosting your affiliate program but they generally cost much less than them. The major advantage in this is that you own the affiliates that are joined under you so if you decide to change the service after sometime than you can take your clients with yourself. Another advantage using ASP’s is that whenever they add some new feature you automatically get them. Affiliate software It is software which you can purchase from the market and install on your system. The biggest advantage of this is that you are not required to pay any kind of monthly rental or sign up fee. The only thing you to pay is the price of the software. The other very important advantage is the lack of dependency since now you don’t require anyone else’s server. It is also very reliable since now you have your own server, so it won’t go down.
