Residual income affiliate programs can secure your life

By Jakob Jelling

The original meaning of residual income or passive income is ‘small but stable’. It actually refers to secondary source of income i.e. stock investments, interests, etc. In this case, however, we will be discussing about residual income derived on the internet. The basic advantages of such type of job is that though you have to work a lot in the beginning, your work gets lower & lower as you proceed.
Also, you are the one who decides the time & place of your work, unlike the hectic 9-5 shifts in that small dingy office. Also, you yourself decide the amount of work that you wish to do, depending upon the amount of profits you want. The more you put on your creativity and hard work, the more you earn. Also, since it is a long time relation, you can rest assured about your future.

This is how a typical residual income affiliate program works. You advertise a product(s) or service(s) of a company on your website in the form of a banner or a text link. If some visitor clicks the link on your website & ‘buys’ the product, the company pays you an incentive (commission). There are two types of affiliate programs. The first pays you only once per customer. Even if the customer buys another product in future, you do not get any commission.

The second type, which is widely accepted by many of the affiliate programs gives you residual incomes & provides you a commission every time when the customer buys something from your merchant. Now there are three types of merchants. First who sell only products; the second who sell some sort of services on a monthly basis or so and the third who sell both of them.
The second and the third type of merchants are more preferable since you get commissions on a regular basis. For e.g., if your merchant is a magazine company your customer pays monthly memberships to it, then for every fee he pays, you automatically get the commission.

One major advantage of such affiliate programs is that you can make the website of your own choice & can add links of the relevant products & thus can sign up to relevant affiliate programs. Thus, you can actually earn from your hobby.

Thus if you have long term plans in mind, residual income affiliate programs are the best solution. The customer not only builds a relation with your merchant but also with you & hence he definitely buys (or at least thinks about) another product of the merchant recommended by you. Hence the merchants always derive smart profits from the loyalties of their affiliates who help them stay ahead in the tough competition prevailing in the market. Always remember that it is easier to get a repeat customer rather than making a totally new contact and that is where residual income affiliate programs help you. Thus, if you choose a good affiliate program – one which will give you a fair commission and also let you enhance your business, it is a good step for long term income planning.
